有一片森林，那里的树木枝繁叶茂，林间绿草如茵、鸟语花香……动物们自由自在地生活着。之后，附近来了一些居民，他们开始砍伐树木，捕杀动物，森林里到处可见光秃秃的树桩子，许多动物失去了家园，甚至是亲人。荒芜的大地在哭泣，失去亲人的动物们既悲痛又愤怒，决定抓捕破坏它们家园、伤害它们亲人的凶手。
有一天，又有人到森林去砍伐树木、捕杀动物了。早就埋伏好的动物们一齐冲出来，将这个“凶手”团团围住。这个人吓得丢下了手里的工具，浑身哆嗦，直冒冷汗。其中一只动物提议，要对这个“凶手”进行公审。于是，一场森林审判大会开始了。
小羊首先发言：“人类贪婪地乱捕乱杀，造成大面积的水土流失，我们羊族失去了完美的家园和赖以生存的水草……”一只小鸟说：“人类的乱砍乱伐让我们无家可归，人类的乱捕乱杀让我们痛失亲人……”老虎愤怒地说：“人类的乱砍滥伐让我们无容身之地，他们的乱捕乱杀让我们成为濒临灭种……”动物们你一言我一语地述说着人类犯下的滔天罪行，被审判的这个人觉得无地自容，羞愧地问：“你们将怎样处置我呢？”审判官大象说：“看你尚有悔过之意，权且饶过你，回去告诉你们的同类：要保护自然的生态平衡，不要为自我的一时之利而破坏生态环境，否则遭殃的不仅仅是我们动物和植被，你们人类自我也会因此受到惩罚……”
这个“凶手”被释放以后，决定忏悔自我的行为，然后用心宣传环保理念，用心参加各种环保活动。几年以后，这片森林又恢复了往日的繁盛景象，动物们又过上了自由自在的生活。
