How a swi education will enhance my future prospect
My life changed when I came to Singapore in 2005 at the age of sixteen to pursue my studies.Initially, it took me a while to adapt to the hot climate. However, language barriers and difficulties in living in a totally different environment from my hometown proved to be more challenging than I imagined. For instance, misunderstandings sometimes arise due tounfamiliarity with the local lingo, and vice versa. In spite of these, I
understood that it was neceary for my personal growth and did not give up.
Five years of overseas study has broadened my horizons and made me clearer of my direction in life. The education I received in both conventional Chinese and cosmopolitan Singapore schools have opened the field of my vision.Apart from having drastic improvements in my English, I have
cultivated an uncanny ability to see things from various perspectives before making judgment.Since Singapore is a country with multi-ethnic groups, I have gained exposure to the many ways of living and thinking of people from different backgrounds.Ultimately, this made me more receptive to others’ point of view, and adaptable to new environments.
Switzerland is a picturesque landlocked country situated in Western Europe. Its hospitality industry has also consistently enjoyed world-wide recognition. The Swi education appeals to me because its multi-ethnic, multilingual landscape presents exciting options.I aim to develop my
strengths, and Swi education offers me many opportunities to do so, such as hands-on internships and ma recruitment drives. The diversity of students in the country offers valuable chances to learn about other
countries and cultures. This will help me develop long lasting friendships with people from different countries, especially in the hospitality busine in which networking is eential.
Hospitality and tourism management has always been my area of interest.I gain satisfaction in bringing joy through my interaction with people. My amicability and patience has proven to come in handy in
establishing good rapport with people. For example, I was able to quickly acquaintance myself with new schoolmates and peers in secondary school when I first arrived in Singapore.
In particular, I was further encouraged to pursue this ambition when I had the honour to meet Jorg Al.Reding, the ambaador of Switzerland to Singapore.Ambaador Reding encouraged me to go to Switzerland for
further studies.Being willing as he was to engage me in earnest conversation despite such a casual occasion, his generosity left me a deep impreion. To me, he embodied the qualities of the Swi culture, namely openne and graciousne. In receiving education in Switzerland, I look forward to cultivating these qualities.
Given my experience in three different countries, China to Singapore, then Singapore to Switzerland, I will be adequately equipped with the cultural understanding to interact with people of different nationalities.I have confidence that the Swi education will prepare me for a fulfilling career in the international hospitality industry in the future.
