“你以为，因为我穷、不美、低贱、矮小，我就没有灵魂没有心吗？你想错了！我的灵魂和你一样，我的心也和你的完全一样……就如我们在上帝面前是平等的——因为我们是平等的！”真是余音绕梁，三日不绝。这份自尊心也成为简爱给大家最美好的礼物。
