城墙就像是一个圈带状的大走廊。我们从南门进入城墙，绕着古城墙转了一圈。在城墙上向下看，西安城方圆几里尽收眼底。我们游览了南门的吊桥、闸楼、四方的瓮城、月城，以及东西南北四个城门上宏伟的城楼。
妈妈告诉我，古城墙上的`路面叫海墁，城墙的四角台上的城楼，叫“角楼” 。其中三个角台是方形的，只有西南角是圆形的。我很好奇地问妈妈：“城墙外侧有不少突出的地方叫什么？又是做什么用的呢？”妈妈说：“突出的地方叫做马面，共有九十八座。这九十八座马面犹如九十八匹守城的骏马，更便于守城打仗。”
